Scientific rationale

The conference was born to give visibility to the most significant results of the scientific production Maugeri, expression of the commitment to the generation of knowledge, to clinical and technological innovation and to the improvement of the paths of prevention, care and rehabilitation.
After the success of the first edition, focused on the contributions published in international high impact journals, the second edition also aims to highlight the capacity of the Maugeri scientific network to attract resources and talents, recounting valuable projects that in 2025 received national and European funding. Among these stands out Fit for Medical Robotics, funded by the National Plan for Complementary Investments at PNRR, which consolidates the role of the Group and its IRCCS in technological research applied to health.
The readings that will open the day will propose a system look at the evolution of research in Italy, with particular attention to chronicity and fragility: key challenges for the future of public health.
The afternoon session will be devoted to the perspectives of technological medicine: robotics, automation, digitisation and artificial intelligence applied to rehabilitation and taking over chronic patients, in a personalized, predictive and sustainable perspective.
The conference will conclude with the award of the Master’s Degrees of II level in "Prevention, Care and Rehabilitation of the Fragile Patient", realized with the University of Pavia and the Ministry of University and Research, which has trained over 40 professionals from all over Italy.
The Maugeri Research Day thus confirms itself as a space for comparison and recognition for researchers, clinicians, health professionals and young scholars who contribute to making the Maugeri research engine of progress and a garrison of innovation in the care of the person.
