Scientific rationale

The congress aims to deepen the latest knowledge about the interactions between intestinal microbiota, nutrition and performance in the sports horse, providing participants with practical and up-to-date tools for integrated animal management. The role of microbiota will be analysed in the prevention and control of the main gastroenteric problems, with particular attention to equine gastric ulcerative syndrome and its implications on horse behaviour and well-being.

Through the presentation of real clinical cases, the results obtained through targeted nutritional interventions and the use of microbiota analysis tests will be illustrated, highlighting the potential of a personalized approach in the management of the athlete horse. Ample space will also be dedicated to the importance of diet in sports preparation, optimization of food strategies and the role of the management of stables in maintaining intestinal health and performance.

The meeting is an important occasion for a multidisciplinary comparison between veterinarians, nutritionists, technicians and equine professionals, with the aim of promoting a evidence-based approach to the management of the sports horse, integrating the latest scientific acquisitions with the daily clinical experience. The final round table will promote the debate between speakers and participants, allowing a shared insight into the topics dealt with and their practical applications
